Why hire me as an editor?

I have been involved with the writing community for several years and provided feedback to many writers along the way. As a critique partner and mentor, I have worked with several writers who are now agented and have book deals with traditional publishers. Major publishers such as Harper Collins have hired me as a sensitivity reader.

 

I am also a writer myself. My two middle-grade novels have been published by Penguin Random House. My work has received starred reviews in Kirkus, School/Library Journal, and Booklist. I received the Schneider Family Award Honor for my debut novel, Get a Grip, Vivy Cohen!

What kinds of books do you edit?

 

I can provide query critiques and sensitivity reads for books across all genres and categories. For full manuscript critiques, I work on these categories:

What services do you offer?

 

I currently offer the following services:

Query critique: ($20)

 

I provide detailed feedback on your query through in-document comments. After you revise your query once, I will critique your new query.

Query and first pages critique: ($45)

 

In addition to critiquing your query, I will also review your first 10 pages and provide in-document comments. I will review one revision of your query and opening pages.

 

Full manuscript critiques: (price available on request)

 

After reading your entire manuscript, I will provide you with a detailed (5+ pages) edit letter providing suggestions for big-picture revisions. I break up my edit letters into sections for plot, character, worldbuilding, and writing style.

 

Full manuscript line editing: (price available on request)

 

I will provide line edits for your full manuscript, focusing on how to improve sentences for clarity and voice.

 

Sensitivity reading: (price available on request)

 

I offer sensitivity reading services for autistic representation. After reading your full manuscript, I will provide an edit letter specific to representation issues. My comments will address accuracy of the representation and how to avoid stereotypes. If necessary, I can provide additional resources to help writers to research authentic autistic representation.

How quickly can you provide services?

For query and first pages, I can give feedback within a week. For reviewing a longer manuscript (either for a sensitivity read or general edit), my turnaround time is 3-4 weeks.

How do you accept payment?

I ask for clients to provide payment before we start working together. I accept payment via PayPal.
